2025
The band appointed a new conductor in March, and throughly enjoyed having some positive leadership once again and made good progress under the baton of Colin Hogg. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances Colin was unable to continue with us and had to leave later in the year.
We did however manage to keep things going, and had a succesful and enjoyable summer afternoon concert at St Monica's Trust in Sandford, ahead of a busy schedule in the lead up to Christmas, culminating in a lovely Christmas concert in Christ Church in Redhill.
The band was saddened to hear of the death of a much loved and respected founder member and former bass player, Mr Trevor Lench. It was with great pride that the band was able to reunite with a lot of previous members, along with members of Trevor's family to play a set at his wake in December. The music included a number of pieces which Trevor had enjoyed, and one which had been arranged specially by his very talented son. One very positive outcome is that Trevor's daughter dusted off her horn to play with us at the wake and has since gone on to join the band on a regular basis, which is wonderful!
Although numbers are currently a bit lower than we would like, the band continues to rehearse weekly, and we are still on the look out for more players to join us, and would really love a new MD/ Conductor to come along and whip us into shape!
